Sustainability Study of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Dimitsana
Located in the heart of the traditional settlement of Dimitsana, the Antonopoulos Mansion is set to house the Historical and Folklore Museum of Dimitsana (ILAMOD). The museum’s aim is to showcase the history of Dimitsana and serve as a cultural hub for the region, attracting visitors from around the world. Adopting modern museological approaches, ILAMOD will be a dynamic cultural center offering education, entertainment, research opportunities, and collaborations with relevant organizations.
PostScriptum, taking into account the foundations laid by previous studies regarding the design and various functions of the museum, undertook the sustainability study of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Dimitsana with the goal of shaping a comprehensive strategic proposal for its present and future, focusing on its economic sustainability.
In the sustainability study, initially, the profile, needs, and expectations of the visitors of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Dimitsana were mapped out, and a proposal was formulated for the continuous increase of its visitation based on a two-way relationship with the public. Additionally, the requirements for the proper functioning of the museum were identified, including an analysis of operational feasibility and the creation of management frameworks.
As part of the study, a structured framework for the economic management of the museum was also developed for its first two years of operation. It identified possible opportunities, risks, and benefits associated with the museum’s development, aligning them with its overall vision and strategic objectives. Ultimately, it provided all the necessary information for the economic management of the museum, guiding it towards a sustainable future.
The assignment for the preparation of the study “Sustainability Study of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Dimitsana” was given to PostScriptum by the Interdisciplinary and Cultural Center of Dimitsana.
